IMDB Updated: Ving Rhames Listed as Vic's Voice Published on Mon, 28 Aug 2006 11:10:18 +0100 |
The Internet Movie Database (IMBD) has yet again been updated for their Vice City Stories listing. The listing now shows Ving Rhames as the voice of Victor Vance, though IMDB has been wrong before such as the featuring of Lazlow on an entry when he himself hadn't been contacted by Rockstar Games, this information appears correct. Ving Rhames has an extensive filmography ranging from 1985 and taking part as an actor in over 70 films to date. He is perhaps most well known for his role in the Mission Impossible series, but has also starred in other works like the Dawn of the Dead remake, the 2005 version of Kojak and even voice acting as a character in Driv3r. We'd like to stress that this isn't confirmed by Rockstar Games themselves yet or indeed by another source but as sourced from IMDB at this late a date in development it is pretty much near certain. Hello World for FW 2.00-2.80! Published on Mon, 28 Aug 2006 08:21:08 +0100 |
And the weekend finale... drum-roll please... GTA-less "Hello World" on firmware 2.0, 2.01, 2.50, 2.60, 2.70, 2.71, and 2.80! Yes, you read correctly - all 2.XX firmware! What does this mean? Well, Ill just quote you the entire readme: QUOTE Finally, its here! As of today, the world of homebrew is no longer restricted to owners of Grand Theft Auto. Following the publication of a new proof of concept TIFF vulnerability by NOPx86, a team of PSP developers has been working hard to turn it into an opening for homebrew on the PSP. Were pleased to announce that the wait is over, with the release of a Hello World demo that runs on all PSP firmwares that are capable of viewing TIFF images! To install, just unpack this ZIP file to your PSPs PHOTO folder, and then attempt to view hello_world.tif. Hello World will launch automatically. You may find that occasionally the full screen doesnt show - this is a known problem, just restart your PSP by holding the power button until it turns off, then open the image again. To quit, hold the power button until the PSP turns off. So what happens next? This shows that we can run code via this exploit. It wont be too hard to develop an eLoader that can use this exploit on v2.0 - v2.6. v2.7+ will be harder, due to extra security, but will happen a little later. Kernel mode is unavailable on v2.8, but it is likely that a downgrader is possible on all other firmwares. But then, with the possibility of kernel homebrew running without the need for a game UMD, why would you need to downgrade? Full credit is given in the Hello World, but repeated here: Thanks to NOPx86 for the initial proof of concept on the x86 processor, and psp250, Skylark, Joek2100, CSwindle, JimP and Fanjita for the PSP work. Thanks also to Ditlew, HarleyG and our families for general support during this work. 'nuff said. My personal thanks to all the developers and people who contributed to achieving this remarkable feat! R* Media Release Published on Fri, 25 Aug 2006 22:39:43 +0100 |
A sizable amount of Vice City Stories media has been released by Rockstar Games during the course of today at the Liepzig Games Convention, this media includes eight previously seen digital screenshots of Vice City Stories, unwatermarking the six CVG digital shots that we previously featured on the site. These screenshots can be seen below from the press package I recieved earlier: In addition to the screens were two massive artwork images, showing the man that was speculated as being Diego Mendez, well we can now confirm it is indeed him as the filename is "GTA_VCS_ART_DIEGO.jpg," additionally the second piece of artwork shows the speculated Laura Shrub, though there's no clear indication or confirmation in this filename merely naming her "girl." The media package also included more versions of the Vice City Stories logo as well as the logos for Rockstar North and Rockstar Leeds. Since these items of artwork were so massive I've resized them, however if you're after the high res versions I've uploaded them just incase: Diego Girl. And of course our digital shots page is now updated. |
GoPlay, Digital Shots & Hovercrafts Published on Thu, 24 Aug 2006 11:20:54 +0100 |
GoPlay Well today's the 24th and having just bought a copy of GoPlay, I can reveal that the magazine brings no new details other than the previously known soundtrack details and doesn't also show any new screenshots. Indeed it merely features two pages on the game as a sidenote to Sonic Rivals. The magazine heard severals eightie's artists on the radio and mentions the like of Blondie, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Depeche Mode. That's all from the magazine front for now. Digital Shots However Computer and Video Games have posted up for digital shots of Vice City Stories in a news article earlier this morning. Though watermarked, it's nice to see the images clearly I'm sure you'll agree. Images below: Hovercrafts ![]() We posted three weeks ago about spotting what appeared to be the Vortex in one of the images, well now it seems that Bravo know about the prescence of hovercrafts in the game, on their website they mention "Besides Heli's and hovercrafts, Vic also relies on his muscle power: He can swim!" (Translated.) A new digital version (see above) has now also been released of the image, making what I maintain is the vortex in clearer detail. Related Links Thanks to Bryan from GTAIreland for the heads up on the digital shots. And the Bravo news article. |
Sony are listening! Published on Wed, 23 Aug 2006 02:07:19 +0100 |
We have all been making suggestions about the PSP hoping that sony would stumble upon it and add the stuff we want. But have they been listening? YEP! But not in the way we all hoped Sony's latest creation,Mylo, is known to many as "a PSP without the games feature". But Sony seem to have added all the things we asked for to the Mylo instead of the PSP,exept homebrew of course . Things we suggested that have been added to Mylo are: Keyboard Mult-itasking (listen to music whilst surfng the net) Instant messengers (Yahoo!messenger ect) Text editer/reader File manager It also ohas stuff we diddent ask for too that are good ideas. And it has Skype,an internet calling program. This is supposed to be a feature added too a future PSP update.Mylo is also updated like the PSP.Will Sony forget about PSP and concentrate on Mylo? Wil any thing we ask for appear on PSP? I personally think its all a plan to make us buy the Mylo, add stuff we want to get us o buy. Iif the price is low,i may be temped myself PS Theres no mention of Flash yet. Post thoughts |
US PSM Reveals New Details Published on Tue, 22 Aug 2006 19:41:40 +0100 |
What's this? GTAVCS with no news and GTAPSP saying details are scarce, oh well at least we're there for you. The latest edition of US PSM magazine has seven pages on Vice City Stories, including some new details as well as one new screen and two new pieces of artwork! New Details The magazine confirms that the same style of multiplayer (ad hoc) from Liberty City Stories will be returning to the latest installment on handheld gta. Though the magazine also says that online multiplayer (or IF) will not be included in the game disappointing many of you who expected it I'm sure. Rockstar Custom Tracks which was released with LCS so that you could play your own music as a "MP3 Player" radio station will be returning. Going with the improvements in water related gaming, the water physics are very different to previous gta games and contrast heavily with land based vehicles, even if jetski's handling is similar to motorcycles. New Screen Very similar to a previous screen, an image showing Victor just south of downtown. New Artwork |
Trailer 3 Released Published on Tue, 22 Aug 2006 17:27:21 +0100 |
A third trailer has been released for Gun Showdown, this one detailing the new missions that the game will feature. Remember of course, that these missions were made originally at the time of the development for Gun, so this isn't new voice acting or content. These are the missions which were never included in Gun, but expand the single player mode of Gun Showdown quite signficantly. The new missions are: Bank Job This mission has you breaking into the vault in the Empire City bank and stealing the gold, before making your escape on horseback. Brush Fire The ranch is under attack and being set alight, protect the rancher and all his family for the attackers. Viva La Resistance Introducing land mines, set them down on the path that the enemy coach will be going along and kill the survivors. Kragen Gang Take out the gang with your knife, revolver and dynamite. Then killing the gangs leader at the end who is wearing a very stupid helmet. As well as the trailer (a link to which you can find below,) five new screenshots have also been released of the game, showing some of the new gameplay elements: Related Links Download the trailer from our database (MOV, 37 MB) |

First Adverts Appear. VCS to be PSP exclusive? Published on Mon, 21 Aug 2006 15:49:44 +0100 |
German site, GameFront have posted a photo of a Vice City Stories advert on a billboard in Leipzig, where the games convention will be being hosted next week. In other news, after visting Rockstar Games a representative of 1up has said that Rockstar Games have told him that Vice City Stories will be exclusive to the Playstation Portable and that there will not be a Playstation 2 version as with Liberty City Stories. QUOTE(1up Podcast) "They're not going to be moving it to PS2, it's going to be PSP only this time, it's much more focused on that platform." "I think some of it is because the tech is a lot more focused on the handheld and I played it briefly and it was definitely an improvement over Liberty City Stories" |
