GamesMaster Previews VCS   Published on Sat, 26 Aug 2006 14:31:54 +0100
UK magazine, Games Master has another preview of Vice City Stories, unfortunately there's no new screenshots and pretty much the same set of details, but as with each of these previews there are a small number of new details.
  • A notable thing about Vice City Stories is the '84 version of the city is poorer than the the GTA: Vice City counterpart, that is to say that the areas look shabbier as it's set before a lot of money started to come into the city.
  • For all those worried that Leaf Links won't be there, the magazine confirms it will be reappearing in the game.
  • The magazine also confirms that most of the characters are new in the game though there will of course be familliar faces reappearing.
  • The magazine also makes mention of how easy it is in the transition between water, land and air travel.

French OPS2M Mag   Published on Fri, 25 Aug 2006 23:26:39 +0100

The French version of the Official Playstation 2 Magazine has a four page preview of Vice City Stories, they do of course show the same screens and much of the same information as the other magazines, but there is some new information:
  • Vice City Stories takes up a little more memory than the original Vice City on the disc
  • In the version that they played the streets seemed a little empty, however Rockstar Games assured the editors that in the final version the streets would be twice as full with pedestrians and vehicles
  • Rockstar are also promising a big surprise concerning the WiFi features of Vice City Stories, though that's all they're saying for the moment.
  • It's also said that there's going to be a lot of humour in the game concerning the pair of Vances.

Scans below:

Thanks to Rip Raf for mailing me the heads up, and credits go to Genius for the scans.

R* Media Release   Published on Fri, 25 Aug 2006 22:39:43 +0100
A sizable amount of Vice City Stories media has been released by Rockstar Games during the course of today at the Liepzig Games Convention, this media includes eight previously seen digital screenshots of Vice City Stories, unwatermarking the six CVG digital shots that we previously featured on the site. These screenshots can be seen below from the press package I recieved earlier:

In addition to the screens were two massive artwork images, showing the man that was speculated as being Diego Mendez, well we can now confirm it is indeed him as the filename is "GTA_VCS_ART_DIEGO.jpg," additionally the second piece of artwork shows the speculated Laura Shrub, though there's no clear indication or confirmation in this filename merely naming her "girl." The media package also included more versions of the Vice City Stories logo as well as the logos for Rockstar North and Rockstar Leeds.

Since these items of artwork were so massive I've resized them, however if you're after the high res versions I've uploaded them just incase: Diego Girl. And of course our digital shots page is now updated.

GoPlay, Digital Shots & Hovercrafts   Published on Thu, 24 Aug 2006 11:20:54 +0100
GoPlay

Well today's the 24th and having just bought a copy of GoPlay, I can reveal that the magazine brings no new details other than the previously known soundtrack details and doesn't also show any new screenshots. Indeed it merely features two pages on the game as a sidenote to Sonic Rivals. The magazine heard severals eightie's artists on the radio and mentions the like of Blondie, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Depeche Mode. That's all from the magazine front for now.

Digital Shots

However Computer and Video Games have posted up for digital shots of Vice City Stories in a news article earlier this morning. Though watermarked, it's nice to see the images clearly I'm sure you'll agree. Images below:

Hovercrafts

IPB Image

We posted three weeks ago about spotting what appeared to be the Vortex in one of the images, well now it seems that Bravo know about the prescence of hovercrafts in the game, on their website they mention "Besides Heli's and hovercrafts, Vic also relies on his muscle power: He can swim!" (Translated.) A new digital version (see above) has now also been released of the image, making what I maintain is the vortex in clearer detail.

Sony are listening!   Published on Wed, 23 Aug 2006 02:07:19 +0100
We have all been making suggestions about the PSP hoping that sony would stumble upon it and add the stuff we want. But have they been listening?

YEP! But not in the way we all hoped

Sony's latest creation,Mylo, is known to many as "a PSP without the games feature". But Sony seem to have added all the things we asked for to the Mylo instead of the PSP,exept homebrew of course . Things we suggested that have been added to Mylo are:
Keyboard
Mult-itasking (listen to music whilst surfng the net)
Instant messengers (Yahoo!messenger ect)
Email
Text editer/reader
File manager

It also ohas stuff we diddent ask for too that are good ideas. And it has Skype,an internet calling program. This is supposed to be a feature added too a future PSP update.Mylo is also updated like the PSP.Will Sony forget about PSP and concentrate on Mylo?
Wil any thing we ask for appear on PSP?
I personally think its all a plan to make us buy the Mylo, add stuff we want to get us o buy. Iif the price is low,i may be temped myself

PS
Theres no mention of Flash yet.

US PSM Reveals New Details   Published on Tue, 22 Aug 2006 19:41:40 +0100

What's this? GTAVCS with no news and GTAPSP saying details are scarce, oh well at least we're there for you.

The latest edition of US PSM magazine has seven pages on Vice City Stories, including some new details as well as one new screen and two new pieces of artwork!

New Details
The magazine confirms that the same style of multiplayer (ad hoc) from Liberty City Stories will be returning to the latest installment on handheld gta.
Though the magazine also says that online multiplayer (or IF) will not be included in the game disappointing many of you who expected it I'm sure.
Rockstar Custom Tracks which was released with LCS so that you could play your own music as a "MP3 Player" radio station will be returning.
Going with the improvements in water related gaming, the water physics are very different to previous gta games and contrast heavily with land based vehicles, even if jetski's handling is similar to motorcycles.

New Screen

Very similar to a previous screen, an image showing Victor just south of downtown.

Trailer 3 Released   Published on Tue, 22 Aug 2006 17:27:21 +0100

A third trailer has been released for Gun Showdown, this one detailing the new missions that the game will feature. Remember of course, that these missions were made originally at the time of the development for Gun, so this isn't new voice acting or content. These are the missions which were never included in Gun, but expand the single player mode of Gun Showdown quite signficantly. The new missions are:

Bank Job
This mission has you breaking into the vault in the Empire City bank and stealing the gold, before making your escape on horseback.

Brush Fire
The ranch is under attack and being set alight, protect the rancher and all his family for the attackers.

Viva La Resistance
Introducing land mines, set them down on the path that the enemy coach will be going along and kill the survivors.

Kragen Gang

Take out the gang with your knife, revolver and dynamite. Then killing the gangs leader at the end who is wearing a very stupid helmet.

As well as the trailer (a link to which you can find below,) five new screenshots have also been released of the game, showing some of the new gameplay elements:

3 New Screenshots from ScreenFun   Published on Mon, 21 Aug 2006 21:40:50 +0100

German magazine, Bravo ScreenFun, which has had previews on GTA before like San Andreas, has some new information and three new screens for us. According to the magazine:
  • It's 1984, mobiles aren't around yet so Vic will be taking his messages by pager instead
  • Controls are very similar to Liberty City Stories
  • As the game progresses Rockstar's obvious emphasis on water vehicles moves up to the air with an increase in helicopter based missions and the like.

First Adverts Appear. VCS to be PSP exclusive?   Published on Mon, 21 Aug 2006 15:49:44 +0100

German site, GameFront have posted a photo of a Vice City Stories advert on a billboard in Leipzig, where the games convention will be being hosted next week.

In other news, after visting Rockstar Games a representative of 1up has said that Rockstar Games have told him that Vice City Stories will be exclusive to the Playstation Portable and that there will not be a Playstation 2 version as with Liberty City Stories.

QUOTE(1up Podcast)
"They're not going to be moving it to PS2, it's going to be PSP only this time, it's much more focused on that platform." "I think some of it is because the tech is a lot more focused on the handheld and I played it briefly and it was definitely an improvement over Liberty City Stories"

UK high street and internet retailer has added the first digital screenshots of Vice City Stories we've seen onto the internet. Two of which we've seen, but the much more interesting of the two are new. Hopefully now it won't be that long until we see the main website go up.

The boxart for Gangs of London is unconfirmed, with IGN (right), GameSpot (center) and even the official PlayStation site (right) using different boxes. GameSpot's box however is an early cover which was sent out in the press packs, so we can rule that out. A simple explanation is that the one on the right with a BBFC rating is for the United Kingdom, and the one of the left is for the USA.

New details from Play The Playstation are wrong   Published on Mon, 14 Aug 2006 19:33:14 +0100

You may have seen news on other sites, detailing the extent of modding of vehicles and characters in VCS. Saying that transfenders won't feature, and the like. This information is ungrounded, as we can confirm these details are not founded. If you've seen the magazine, it only features screens from Vice City, and the only artwork is from the VCS box, and from Vice City. Other information is based on that which was released on gta fansites. It is still unknown if the game will feature the customisation as mentioned above, so please don't rule that out because of a magazine that rips it's news from websites and other magazines.

This magazine, which has also taken two it's screens from the website GTA Vice, and appears to have rewritten details from GamesTM caps off its unprofessional streak by going as far as calling the protagonist, Victor Vance as Vic Lance.

5 New Screens, and the new details   Published on Thu, 10 Aug 2006 13:13:16 +0100
IPB Image

It's nice to see we're ahead of the game again, at the time of posting this, no other gta fan site had any screens or new info from GamesTM. Anyway, we got our hands on a copy of Games TM, a little earlier today, it contains five new screens
  • As well as the silenced SMG we found about ealier, GamesTM have confirmed the prescence of an all new rocket launcher in VCS.
  • Rockstar have greatly expanded the number of boats, adding a lot more variety in types.
  • Time-contextual NPC behaviour has also been introduced, basically meaning that you'll be seeing party goers at night, and tramps around dawn, etc.
  • Phil Cassidy has also been spotted on the loadup titles, and so obviously will be reappearing in Vice in 1984 as well.
  • The article makes mention that tankers are also appearing in VCS.
  • Despite what we said yesterday, about there still being popup, the article says that it is minimal. Good news then for those of you who were annoyed with driving or flying into objects which only appeared after you'd hit them as with previous gta games.
  • Going further with the water theme, Jet Skis handle completely differently to the other boats and water vehicles, and illustrate well the new handling and effect of the water in VCS.
  • Unlike previous GTA games, GamesTM say that in VCS the water moves and feels like real ocean, with waves, currents and spray now completely upgraded.
And now to the screens:

EDIT: GamesTM Magazine have requested that I take the following screenshots down. I recommend that if you haven't seen them yet, to check out another site like http://www.gtavcs.com or http://www.gtavcs.fr

Not that much of interest here, another image showing how sunset and sunrise now affect the look of models.

A screen showing, Victor and Lance at the South Ocean Beach helipad, confirming the prescence of fully functional Mavericks in the game. (This helipad is where the hunter spawns in Vice City when you get 100%.)

This image clearly shows the Infernus in Ocean beach.

A good image depicting both the fresh looking water and the expanded draw distance.

And finally, a classic gta scene image, depicting Vic, ready for action.
